The Fright Gallery answers the burning questions: What if Mickey and Judy were to put on a show on a front lawn in Burbank? And what if they had just as much ambition and more sheer talent than Andrew Lloyd Webber and Rudy Frimmel all wrapped up in one? With a wicked wit as a cherry on top, and MGM production style to boot? Well the answer to those questions above is the Abba/Mamma Mia Broadway show inspired "Hazelwood Manor." I have to confess that last night when we dropped in for the last show, I hadn't visited this location since it was in it's lawn art phase. What I found instead was a mini-musical production that could give some of the "Broadway" shows I've had to endure a run for their money. And on a front lawn no less. The audience gasps during this show, but not from fright - they are agog at the huge stage that has a spectacular effect (which I won't spoil for you) and the singing and dancing. The jokes are fun, the wicked new lyrics to some of Abba's hits are charming, witty and urbane. The production is remarkable in its professionalism - lighted, miked and mixed to a "T." These folks adore what they are doing, and the audience (standing out on the sidewalk and in the street) can truly feel it. reviewed by MousePlanet.com, October 31 |

Oh...and I almost forgot the biggest surprise of the night . . . this house on Lamer street in Burbank. It's located behind the Disney Studios. Basically, this group of people set up this huge haunted house facade in front of a house in this Burbank suburban area. The facade looked phenomenal, but what followed was even more spectacular. The people who put this haunted house up do a show in front of it. And it's a show with theater lighting, a soundtrack, and moving set pieces. Describing here in words would NOT do it justice. If you live in the L.A. area, you MUST see it. Reviewed by Madelweb.com, October 28 |

I just wanted to tell you that I saw Hazelwood Manor last night, and I am still completely blown away. What a great show! I was so impressed with the scenery, the excellent sound quality, the effects and lighting, and the funny, clever lyrics. (I'm a huge ABBA fan! Then again, who isn't?) I'm going to try to stop by again tonight and bring a few friends. Congratulation! And thanks for the good laugh! Rosie |
